Sony has begun installing GPS tracking chips in their cameras. How much does this worry you?
The two models are: DSC-HX5V & DSC-TX7
It is a Gps Receiver. It does not transmit your location – it merely determines your location and ‘tags’ that location to each picture.
“The Sony HX5V includes both a GPS receiver and compass built-in, allowing it to tag images with both the location and direction in which they were captured.”
BTW – are you aware that every Cell Phone in the US is required to transmit its GPS location if you dial 911? (This feature cannot be disabled.)
